            Introduction

                 below

A George III silver pagoda epergne made in London, 1761, by Thomas Pitts.

The firm of  E.& C. T. Koopman & Son Ltd was founded in 1958 by Eddy and Jacques Koopman.  Through the '70s and '80s it quickly rose to become the largest firm of antique silver dealers in the country. As a dealer to all people, Jacques managed to put together many great collections including the Mahdi al Tajir collection and the Packer collection.

Since Jacques Koopman's death in 1991, Michael Koopman, (Eddy's son), combined forces in 1993 with Rare Art (London) Ltd, run by Lewis Smith, The combination  has continued to trade in the same manner as before, dealing with museums, collectors, and decorators. Together they have placed items of importance into museums as well as the homes of some of the most discerning collectors worldwide.

We hope that now in the twenty-first century and with the assistance of Timo Koopman, (Michael's son), a third generation will continue to offer fine silver in the same tradition.
